Special Diamond Wedding Bands

It is such an exciting time. You have asked for her hand and she said, “Yes!” so now you must take the next step and seal the bond of your love and shop around for those most precious pieces of jewelry; your wedding bands. When shopping around for wedding bands many people go for the traditional, simpler look of a 14, 18 or 24 karat gold band. These bands are less expensive than anything containing precious gems or diamonds but are far less elegant and beautiful than a diamond wedding band. Up until about 60 years ago, people wore the simple gold bands. Today, a wedding band set with diamonds is far more common.

Jewelry with diamonds in it were always something people enjoyed, however about 500 years ago, when diamond cutting began, people became more interested in having their jewelry set with diamonds. This is because diamond cutting became more of an art and there was more than one way to cut a diamond to have it reflect more light and make it appear larger than it was.

The DeBeers Company, which was formed in the late 19th century, was instrumental in creating a market for jewelry with diamonds in it. A book came out entitled, “A Diamond is Forever” and the DeBeers Company used this phrase to persuade people to look for more ornately-designed jewelry with diamonds in it instead of the plain old fashioned gold bands. This promotion was quite successful and within a few years many plain gold bands were replaced by ones with diamonds.

Diamonds are imported from all over the world and when people go out to purchase one, they want one that is the best quality for their money. Since a diamond is forever, this will most likely be something that is passed down to other generations and held as an important part of the family’s history.

It makes someone feel great when they know they have found the person of their dreams to be with for the rest of their lives and having a diamond wedding band that is looked at and appreciated every day is just another reason to choose the band that will make this possible.
